Miyu
Miyu is a nice application that will let you add subtitles (or other text) to videos. It features playback with real-time preview, full screen playback, WYSIWYG Typesetting and much more. Once you are done with the video, you can export it as a Quicktime video, AVI, and a couple other formats.
This is useful in a few ways. For instance, maybe you are going to upload a video to Youtube and you want to be sure your site gets credit. Teave it in there on the bottom of the video. Or maybe you are doing home videos of grandpa and he just slurs too much for people to understand. You can type the text out to keep up as he speaks.
MPEG Streamclip
When it comes to editing and exporting videos, there are few video files that MPEG Streamclip can’t handle.
“MPEG Streamclip lets you play and edit QuickTime, DV, AVI, MPEG-4, MPEG-1; MPEG-2 or VOB files or transport streams with MPEG, PCM, or AC3 audio (MPEG-2 playback component required); DivX (with DivX 5.1.1) and WMV (with Flip4Mac WMV Player). MPEG Streamclip can export all these formats to QuickTime, DV/DV50, AVI/DivX and MPEG-4 with high quality encoding and even uncompressed or HD video.”
KeyCastr
When activated, you can have a little window pop up to show what you are typing on your keyboard. For example, if you are making a video screencast, but you are not recording sound, you don’t always have a way to show your audience what you are doing. With KeyCastr activated, a window will pop up showing the text that you type. Almost like subtitles for your video. Even better, if you mention a website that may be hard to spell out. You can type it across the bottom of your screen so your viewers know the URL. This is a great tool for video podcasters.
